Whanganui Accident and Medical (WAM) is a subsidiary company of the Whanganui Regional Health Network (WRHN), established in 2003 as a means of providing our Whanganui community with improved access to primary and urgent after-hours care, and to complement and support existing health services.

​The WAM team strives to provide quality healthcare to our community, with a focus on;

• Delivering an innovative service that facilitates access to appropriate primary care,

• Being responsive to the needs of the Whanganui community,

• Timely management of ACC-related consultations,

• Creating equitable access for whānau,

• Providing whānau with the tools to manage their own wellbeing.

 

Located on the Whanganui hospital campus alongside the Emergency Department (ED), WAM is in essence creating a ‘one-stop shop’ for consumers. Operating hours are 8am to 8pm, 7-days a week, including public holidays.

We are seeking energetic and motivated casual Registered Nurses to join our caring and friendly team. The successful applicants will have proven experience working across the health sector and will also;

• Demonstrate a high level of computer literacy,

• Exhibit excellent communication skills,

• Demonstrate effective clinical assessment skills,

• Hold a current triage qualification (CENNZ) and ACLS Level 6 (or assure a commitment to obtain),

• Have previous experience in a mental health setting,

• Ideally have urgent care or emergency experience, but this is not essential.
