The Whanganui Regional Health Network (WRHN) has an allocation of 219 homes in this years July 2015 to June 2016 Healthy Homes project. 136 homes have been allocated already, made up of:
- 77 referred by Health Care Professionals,
- 33 self referred by people with long term health conditions or children with asthma and eczema, and
- 26 self referred through the insulation company by people with long term health conditions or children with asthma and eczema.
The remaining 80 homes the WRHN is prioritising for children with long term conditions such as asthma and eczema. If there is any change to the new allocation criteria the WRHN will keep the practices and community informed.
The WRHN can insulate owner occupied homes and rental homes. If the home is a rental, the landlord is asked to contribute 20% of the total quote value. All rentals in NZ will need to be insulated by 2017. Health Care Professionals can still refer adults but patients need to be told that their name will be added to next year’s list starting July 2016, and that funding for all ongoing healthy homes projects is government dependent.
