The Ministry of Health encourages Pacific peoples who are interested in studying health science courses to apply for a 2019 Pacific Health Scholarship. Applications for the Scholarships are open until 5 pm on Friday 8 February.
The Ministry funds the Scholarships to empower more Pacific peoples to pursue health careers. This makes the health workforce more representative of our population and more responsive to Pacific peoples – in turn making our health system more equitable.
Pacific peoples enrolled in medicine and dentistry courses at NZQA-approved tertiary institutions may be eligible for up to $10,000 while those enrolled in nursing, midwifery and allied health courses could be eligible for up to $5,000. The Scholarships were first awarded in 2002, with over $1.4 million funding available this year.
Please help spread the word about the Scholarships among your networks. Further information about eligibility and the application process can be found at Pacific Health Scholarships 2019 guidelines.
